Using the Right Engine Oil
ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY ENGINES
In the late 1990’s there was a significant change in motor vehicle engine technology as the world’s leading car makers responded to strict new government guidelines to reduce vehicle emissions.
Delivering maximum power
output with minimum fuel consumption and significantly reduced
emissions became the new priority and advanced technology engines
were born.
Today, these constantly evolving, highly
efficient engines are used in most vehicles, from small economic
passenger cars through to exotic Supercars.
USING THE RIGHT ENGINE OIL
When engines are required to produce more, consume less and
withstand extended service intervals, they are highly stressed.
Hence the function of engine oil has dramatically changed due
to these advancements.
Using motor oil that does not specifically meet the exacting
standards of the manufacturer may void your warranty and can lead to
extra fuel consumption, increased carbon (CO2) emissions,
premature engine wear and possible damage.
The performance characteristics of oil are determined by the quality
of the base stocks as well as the
selected chemical additives
that are blended with it.
So the engine oil SAE viscosity grade is only part of the story.
To ensure you select the right oil for your specific make and model refer to your Vehicle Owner’s Manual for the correct Viscosity, Specification Standards and OEM Approvals.
